Why Should We Choose to Focus on Holistic Development?

Holistic development essentially means the development of intellectual, mental, physical, emotional, and social abilities of a child so that they are capable of facing the demands and challenges of everyday life. Raising children is a difficult task and it is only made harder by the cultural and societal differences for parents. There are many milestones, children need to undergo that will affect their overall holistic development. The aim of teachers and counselors in holistic growth is to chart out every child’s individual capability and compare their abilities to the norms of a child their age. Each day at school begins with attempts to work toward maximizing our level of health and wellness to churn out good results and live long, full, and healthy lives. The pursuit of a healthy childhood, happier adulthood, and improved quality of life rely on living a balanced life.

Create a comfortable and safe environment for children to connect and be themselves in. The holistic development approach is becoming more recognized throughout early childhood development and a ‘hands-on’ approach for teachers, teacher aides, and early childhood educators. It encourages children to explore all their intelligence and capacities and to see the world in all its wholeness.

Creative skills support our openness to new experiences and help us transform ideas in meaningful ways. Coming up with ideas, expressing them and transforming them into reality, being ok with ambiguity, exploring possibilities, evaluating ideas, identifying the best solution. By having strong physical skills, we exercise our minds and bodies to maintain wellbeing towards a successful life.

Being physically active, understanding movement and space through practicing sensory-motor skills, developing spatial understanding, and nurturing an active and healthy body. Social skills also allow us to have healthy relationships with family and friends. Collaboration, communication, and perspective-taking. Sharing ideas, negotiating rules, and building empathy.

With strong emotional skills, we are better able to tackle challenges in everyday life and relate in important ways to our family and friends. A Development approach allows practitioners to plan their future activities which will help the child’s overall learning, development, and wellbeing. A Holistic Development approach motivates children to learn about a subject in greater depth.

From top to bottom, physical growth is fundamental to ensure successful holistic child development. It all starts with creating awareness about their health and well-being which considers gaining control over them. All these will ensure your child is developed in a holistic manner.
